Occupational Therapy Program Helps Patients Get Back on the Road with Driving Simulator

Sacred Heart University’s occupational therapy program now offers the DriveSafety RS 600 driving simulator as an important tool in patients’ efforts to regain independence.

The simulator is located in the Occupational Therapy Home Suite laboratory at SHU’s Center for Healthcare Education. The building, which opened last fall, also has a fully equipped home suite in which patients can work on their home living skills and students can practice delivering services to patients in their own home.

The combination of teaching and service delivery is a benefit to students and the community.
