HyperDrive Authoring Suite™ is DriveSafety’s advanced scene and scenario authoring tool set. This Windows™-based software suite allows researchers to design and implement custom driving and environmental models in a drag and drop assembly model. HyperDrive includes an extensive library tiles representing freeways and freeway junctions, different types of surface streets and intersections, and a wide variety of environmental settings. Available environmental model classifications include residential, rural, urban, sub-urban, commercial and industrial surroundings. The software gives the subject-matter expert control over lighting, weather, traffic density, and cultural feel.
Within the driving environments created by the researcher, HyperDrive allows definition of the traffic conditions, environmental states, and scripted events that need to occur during the simulated drive. HyperDrive provides extensive control over the data collection and performance measurements that will be carried out by the simulator while scenarios are being driven, including support for many researcher-defined measurement functions. Some of the key feaures and benefits include:
Tile-Based Scene Authoring
- Over 400 road/environment tiles (a tile is approximately 200 meters x 200 meters of virtual world)
- Drag and drop user interface
- Rural, urban, suburban, industrial, residential, freeway
- Over 40 vehicles
- Moving pedestrians, bicyclists, animals
- Various types of intersections and intersection controls
- Curbs, pot-holes, off-road terrain surfaces
- Able to import custom tiles, entities, images and sounds
Event & Behavior Triggers
- Time based triggers
- Location based triggers
- Conditional triggers
- Control
- Traffic signage including customizable signs
- Autonomous interactive ambient traffic
- Extensive, interactive scripted vehicle activity
- Internal, external and manual triggers
- Variable roadway friction, lighting and weather effects
Data Collection
- Up to 60 Hz real-time data collection
- Over 80 standard performance measures
- 25 user-definable data collection variables
- Output ideal for spreadsheets, graphing & statistical analysis packages
- Definable collection rate
- Location specific collection
- Entity specific collection
Scripting
- Utilize Tcl/Tk to extend possibilities
- Over 140 predefined scripting commands
- GUI-based scripting tool
- Easy external device/application integration
The data collection capability includes features that allow the simulator adminstrator to define and name data collection segments, identify which measures to collect, and determine how the data is to be used and where the data will be stored. There are dozens of data collection variables available for scripts during runtime at up to 60 Hz as well as how to store and format the resulting data files.
HyperDrive is used primarily on the research simulators, though licenses are available for the CDS clincial driving simulator systems.
