It started at a restaurant. My dad was always a gentle man. He never said a cross or curse word in his life. But one this occasion, he started cursing the young waitress because he did not the meal he thought he ordered. He just turned 85. I had noticed his driving was showing signs. He was driving slower than the speed limit. He appeared confused in some situations. I tried to talk to him about it. He would just get made and tell me he taught me how to drive. I called his doctor, at the hospital. I told them what I was experiencing with his. They said they would call him and have him come up to the hospital for a check-up as part of his diabetes. He agreed. I went with him. They did some other tests that I did not think had anything to do with driving, but they said they did. They used a driving simulator to test his driving abilities. I was okay with the device because it looked like a car. He definitely had problems. The doctor told him that he has some mental issue that impacts driving. They suggested he give up his keys. They offered to do have a driving test in another car like one used in drivers ed, but he did not want to do that. I think he knew he was losing it. He accepted the doctor’s recommendation. He has not completely quite yet but he only drives when me, my husband, my daughter or my brother and one in his family cannot help. He says he only drives locally but I think he will be done driving in a month or two.

Interesting story.

I found the website very easy to use and user-friendly. Good graphics, colors, organization. However, I was unable to post in the Driving Forum, not sure if I would need to sign up or something.

Like Ashley, I was unable to navigate in the driving forum unless I signed up. I did however find the website user friendly for the other areas I looked. It might be a good place to find some answers to questions on the driving topics.
