The headline, Aliens Ordered Me to Crash Car, might grab your interest, but when you look at the details, it not only is sad but certainly an issue public officials, medical professionals and family members need to take serious.

On the morning of 9 October 2004, a young man with a history of paranoid schizophrenia and had not taken his medication, was travelling at 140km/h (87mph) and rear-ended the hatchback of 58-year-old Keith Evenis in Queensland. Mr. Evenis did not survive the crash; the offender did. He was also drunk at the time.

The though question is: should mentally ill individuals be given carte blanc driving privileges? Perhaps society does a good job dealing with this issue and this is one that just fell through the Austrailan cracks, but it is eye opening and cannot be ignored.
